Kepler's Solar System Model, Ground Plan

Cross section of Kepler's 3D model. Each annulus is the 2D plane section
of a 3D spherical shell by the plane of the Earth's orbit.

Here, the small blue disk represents the annulus of the planet earth, filled in. Around it, in turn, the rings of Mars (red), Jupiter (orange), and Saturn (magenta). The thickness of each annulus indicates the space between the minimum and maximum distances of the planet from the center.

Scale: one inch = 667 Mkm
(assumes the white square measures 4 x 4 inches)
